Colossians 1:26-27
26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. 27 God wanted to make known among the Gentiles the glorious wealth of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Paul sees his mission as making the word of God fully known. And what does that mean? Well, he begins to clarify in verse 26. It’s a mystery that had been hidden for ages and generations. The Apostle Peter, in his first letter, even says that angels longed to look into the things that the prophets spoke of concerning the gospel. A big reveal is coming.
What could it be? What is the mystery?
We’ve already seen Christ’s reconciling and redeeming power. We’ve seen how He is the creator of all things, the sustainer of all things, he is the head of the church, and he has used his power to reconcile you and I to God through His blood.
So what can be left to say?
This mystery is something God wanted to make known to the Gentiles. This mystery is rich and glorious. What is it?
And then it comes. Only five words. A combination of which that had been hidden for ages.
Which is…
Christ… the magnificent eternal painter, skilled craftsman, creative ruler who is king and has dominion over all 96 billion light years of the known Universe and all of the infinite expanse of the heavenly realm.
In…
You…
That’s right. This all-powerful Lord, all-sufficient Savior has taken up residence in you.
And that, my friend, is the hope of glory. Because of that reality, we know that we are connected to glory. We don’t have to wait until we die to experience it, we are experiencing it now.
But we must notice. We must ponder this.
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Take a couple minutes, close your eyes, think on this, and pray about this. It goes beyond words.
All I can say is “wow!”
Onward, saints.
