Christian prayer is powerful because of the one who hears and responds to prayer. God is greater and more powerful than we have the capability of imagining. That’s right. No explanation, no imagination, no dream can come close to fathoming the power, greatness, and glory of God.
Our puny perspective of who God is causes us to pray puny prayers. We ask for safety. We ask for A’s on the test. We ask for puny little things. Should we stop? No. He cares. But He desires to bring Himself glory. What if we prayed a courageous prayer? A prayer that there would be NO DOUBT, if answered, that only God could be responsible. We may just gain a little more perspective of the power, greatness, and glory of God.
You Need Courage to Pray This Prayer
Don’t pray this prayer without counting the cost first. Allow me to share with you the essence of this prayer that necessitates courage:
God, you are full of glory. You are powerful. You are holy. You are Creator. You are greater than I can fathom. It’s crazy, but you love me. You desire that I would be a tool of righteousness. And because of that, Lord, please just have your way with me. Push me out of the way today and I will follow wherever you lead. Lead me to the place of forgiveness. To the place of love. To the place of sacrifice. To the place of the cross. Change me, Lord. Mold me – no matter how much it will hurt. Show me how to bring you glory today. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
Count the cost. I believe God wants to do these things in your life. And I believe that He may just say yes to this prayer.
Count the cost. The day you begin to pray this prayer with your whole being may be the day where you are called out of your comfort.
Count the cost. The day you follow God to where He wants to take you may be the day suffering meets you face to face. Because suffering leads, ultimately, to hope. (Read this)
Count the cost. You’ll have hard conversations – forgiving those who have wronged you, asking for forgiveness from those you’ve wronged.
Count the cost. Sacrifice isn’t for those driven by fear. It takes courage. [shareable]Count the cost. Sacrifice isn’t for those driven by fear. It takes courage.[/shareable]
